You’re probably wondering what this website is. Simply put, it’s a blog. Around my late 20s to early 30s, I became intrigued by many forms of writing. Currently, I don’t have any favorite authors, but I appreciate the art of writing and the art of debating. I suppose you can say that curiosity is what has motivated me to want to create this blog. But, here’s the actual reason I’m motivated to write: When you discover this website, I hope it serves as a guide, a manuscript, a biography, a memoir – maybe even an instruction manual for life.
There are times when I fail to communicate clearly – times when I might want to share my thoughts or offer insights on a topic, but what I might say may not be said in a politically correct way. I understand, that when this happens, there’s a chance you don’t understand the message I want to convey. That’s my fault! The blame lies with me, and it starts with my lack of commitment in grade school and high school. Here’s what I mean: I was given every opportunity to be a disciplined student. I learned to read and write at the appropriate age, but I only did enough to meet the basic standards. This was a disservice to myself, the people around me, and ultimately – to you, my one and only daughter. If I read more books early on in my life, my writing skills would be stronger and as a result, I’d be better at communicating ideas to you. I believe I would be a better father, a better husband – and dare I say, a better human – if from a young age, I deliberately focused on reading, writing, and speaking.
I share that context to let you know I am fully responsible for my actions or lack thereof. However, this is not an excuse, and I will not allow my past to define my future. At this point, I decided to make reading, writing, speaking, and most importantly God – bigger part of my life. My goal is to use these three skills to better articulate how much love I have for you and the impact you have made on me.
You’ve helped me become a better person by teaching me that I could love another human unconditionally. God blessed me at the age of 20, with your precious cry, and from then on, you began teaching me how to be a responsible adult. Ultimately, this lesson has spilled into every part of my life, which has shaped me into the man you now know as your father.
Anabelle, my beautiful daughter, consider this blog my gift to you! I will continue updating it so you have a library and collection of my thoughts. I pray that these writings will serve you long after I am laid to rest – and throughout the remainder of your blessed life.
With love,
Rick Zamarron!
